The social network cannot read the media file, or the media file does not meet the social network's requirements

This issue occurs when a social network cannot process an attached image or video.

Possible causes

  • The file is corrupted or was not uploaded completely.
  • The file uses an unsupported or non-standard format, codec, or container.
  • The video is encoded with H.265 (HEVC), which cannot always be converted correctly to H.264.
  • The file does not meet the social network's requirements for file size, resolution, aspect ratio, duration, frame rate, or bitrate.
  • The social network was temporarily unable to read the file or its metadata.

What to do?

Postmypost normally prepares media files for publishing automatically: it converts them to a suitable format and, when necessary, adjusts their resolution, duration, frame rate, or bitrate. In most cases, you do not need to prepare the file yourself.

To resolve the issue:

  1. Make sure the file opens and plays on your device.
  2. Upload the file again. If this does not help, resave the image as JPEG or PNG, or convert the video to MP4 with the H.264 video codec and AAC audio codec.
  3. Check the requirements of the selected social network: open the Social networks section, select the platform, and go to the Requirements and limitations page.

If you do not want Postmypost to process or modify the media file, prepare it in advance so that it fully meets the requirements of the selected social network.
