File size must not exceed 10 MB for images, 50 MB for videos, and a total limit of 50 MB when posting multiple files in one post

Like other social networks, Telegram has requirements for width, height, bitrate, audio rate, and other file parameters.

Possible reasons​

The file does not meet Telegram's technical requirements. If a video does not meet the minimum requirements, it is automatically adapted before publication. As a result, its size may increase—for example, from 49 MB to 51 MB, which will lead to an error.

Special requirements for publishing in Telegram circles​

  • Videos must be 320 x 320 pixels and no more than 10 MB. Maximum video bitrate is 50 kbps.
  • If your video doesn't meet these parameters, the system will automatically convert it. Usually, the size decreases after conversion, but sometimes it may increase, which will exceed the allowed limit.
  • To avoid errors, we recommend preparing videos according to the specified requirements in advance.
