Why won't my video play in the editor?
If the "Play" button doesn't work when previewing a video in the file editor, it is most often due to technical issues with the video codec.
Why does this happen?
The main reason is that the video is encoded using the HEVC (H.265) codec.
While this codec allows for smaller file sizes with high quality, it has limited support in web browsers:
- Chrome and Firefox: HEVC support is often limited or depends on your operating system and hardware settings.
- Safari: Supports HEVC, but playback stability in web editors can depend on the version of macOS/iOS and the specific browser mode.
If the browser does not support this codec, it cannot decode the video stream, and the "Play" button will simply not respond.
How to fix it?
For maximum stability across all browsers and social networks, we recommend using standard parameters:
- Format (container): MP4.
- Video Codec: H.264 (AVC).
- Audio Codec: AAC.
Tip: If your video is already recorded in HEVC, you can convert it to H.264 using free video editors or online converters. This will ensure your video displays correctly in preview and is guaranteed to upload to all social networks.
