Why a file might increase in size when uploaded from a mobile device
When uploading a video from a phone, it's often not the original file that's transferred, but a version that the device's operating system prepares before sending. This is normal behavior for mobile devices and is not a service error.
Possible causes
Most social networks accept videos in H.264 format. However, on a phone, videos are often stored in H.265. During upload, the operating system automatically converts the file to the appropriate format so that it is correctly accepted by platforms.
Because of this conversion, the file size may increase, although the video visually remains the same. Additionally, the system may resave the file or add service data. A similar phenomenon occurs if the file is transferred via instant messaging, editors, or other applications—they create their own copy of the video.
What to do?
Nothing extra needs to be done—this is a standard process. Videos in this format are correctly accepted by social networks and can be published without restrictions.
If it's important to keep the file as close to the original as possible, we recommend uploading videos from your computer and avoiding transferring them via messengers and editors, as they often modify the file before sending.
Postmypost accepts videos exactly as they are transmitted by your device. The service does not modify files or affect their size.
